This is a pivotal role responsible for leading professional nursing practice, workforce development, and clinical governance across our Sussex clinics. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on clinical practice, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality fertility care. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of fertility nursing services within a highly respected independent IVF clinic while remaining actively involved in patient care.

About the Role

The Fertility Nurse Manager provides professional leadership across nursing teams in Brighton, Eastbourne, and Worthing, ensuring that all nursing practice meets the highest standards required by the NMC, HFEA, and CQC. Working closely with the Medical Director, Director of Operations, Clinic Manager, and Quality Manager, the role ensures excellence in clinical governance, patient safety, workforce planning, and service delivery. All senior leaders at the Agora maintain active clinical practice. The Nurse Manager will spend approximately 40–50% of their time delivering direct patient care, including consultations, ultrasound scanning, and treatment coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Nursing Standards

Provide professional leadership for nursing teams across all Sussex clinics Maintain high standards of fertility nursing practice across all clinical activities Ensure compliance with NMC, HFEA, and CQC standards Promote a strong culture of patient safety, compassion, and clinical excellence Support clinical governance, audit, and continuous quality improvement

Fertility Nursing Clinical Practice

Undertake fertility nurse consultations including consent, treatment planning, and patient counselling Perform fertility ultrasound scans including baseline and monitoring scans Provide oversight of cycle monitoring and treatment coordination Support and enhance the Agora patient support programme

Workforce Leadership & Development

Lead and support the fertility nursing workforce across all clinics Work collaboratively on rota planning and workforce allocation Lead recruitment of fertility nurses and trainee nurses Oversee CPD programmes and support NMC revalidation Conduct appraisals, competency assessments, and mentorship Develop leadership capability within the nursing team Oversee fertility nurse training programmes and competency frameworks Support long-term workforce planning and service development

Theatre & Procedural Governance

Provide clinical governance oversight of theatre nursing practice Support and supervise the Theatre & Medicines Lead Contribute to safe sedation practices and recovery standards

Governance & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure full compliance with regulatory frameworks including NMC, HFEA, and CQC Support audit programmes, SOP compliance, and quality improvement initiatives Lead and support risk management, incident investigation, and infection control practices

Collaboration & Service Development

Work closely with operational and clinical leaders to optimise service delivery Support cycle forecasting and coordination across clinical and laboratory teams Ensure efficient patient pathways and high-quality patient experience Contribute to budget management and financial planning for nursing services Support development of new clinical services and innovations

Who You Are

We welcome applications from experienced fertility nurses who are:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) Minimum 5 years’ experience in fertility nursing including IVF and ultrasound scanning
  • Experienced in senior clinical leadership or team management roles
  • Confident in leading multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Knowledgeable in clinical governance, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong communicator with excellent leadership and people management skills
