Our educational pledge
The Agora wants to empower every person of reproductive age to understand the choices they can make now or in the future if they wish to create a family. We offer educational support in schools and in the workplace and also provide menopause education.
Several members of our senior team including our Medical Director Carole Gilling-Smith regularly visit local schools and colleges to educate young people about the many diverse ways of creating a family.
In 2019 we filmed the journey of 25 students from a local theatre school who came and spent a day in our clinic exploring some of different scenarios we frequently encounter in our fertility world. The film was ground-breaking in its concept, and premiered at The Barbican as part of a Fertility Fest
We also offer IVF discovery days for our young Agora children when the time feels right to help them understand how they came to be.
In this short news clip, Albi, a young teenager who was conceived through ICSI using donor sperm was interviewed by ITV Meridien about his experience of visiting the Agora laboratory and meeting some of the team who were behind his start in life
We also offer some exciting opportunities for young people to gain valuable work experience.
We offer a number of gap year placements to school leavers, especially those considering a career in medicine, nursing, midwifery or biological sciences.
The successful applicant works under close supervision within our busy clinic gaining knowledge and experience and rapidly become an indispensable part of our Agora team, learning many life skills as well as gaining experience in communicating and supporting our patients.
