We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Laboratory Manager to lead our existing scientific team of senior, pre-registrant embryologists and technicians.
The appointee will be required to provide leadership and excellence within the state-of-the-art laboratories across our clinics in Brighton and Eastbourne. The appointee will be part of and support the Agora Leadership Team in executing strategic and operational objectives.

Leadership, key roles and responsibilities
- Demonstrate professional leadership to the Agora scientific team
- Lead and evaluate progress of the embryology laboratory practices
- Ensure excellent clinical outcomes and continuous improvement
- Establish and monitor laboratory Quality Objectives and Quality Indicators of the laboratories
- Generate, review and present clinical outcomes, embryology outcomes and KPIs
- Regularly update scientific protocols and standard operating procedures
- Prepare laboratory reports, clinical outcomes, embryology outcomes for participation to the annual Quality Management Review meeting
- Oversee quality and regulatory compliance of the laboratories
- Develop and implement governance and management strategies
- Propose new ideas for maximizing efficiencies and improvements
- Support, coach and undertake competency assessment of all embryologists
- Develop training systems and be responsible for performance objectives of the scientific teams
- Troubleshoot and provide problem solving in the laboratories with or without the help of the SLT
- Participate in research projects
- Empower and support the professional development of all scientific staff.
- Ensure own continuous CPD and challenge own development
- Participate in senior leadership meetings and get involved in strategic planning and management
- Assist with resolving complaints by providing high quality evidence
- Follow and comply IC and H&S policies and requirements
- Support the Quality Manager by providing high quality audits or documentation
- Lead the HFEA inspections for the laboratories
- Report non-conformities to HFEA and/or ICO to QM and PR.
- Ensure effective multi-disciplinary communication and relationships.
- Perform all clinical embryology procedures to a high standard
- Conduct audits in line with scientific SOPs
- Support embryologists with expenditure budgets
- Share knowledge and mentor the scientific teams
- Lead human resources activities of the scientific team
Experience & Qualifications required:
- PhD or MSc in ART
- HCPC Registration
- ICSI and PGT-A Biopsy Licenses
- FRCPath (desirable)
- ESHRE Senior Embryologist certification (optional)
- Experience in running an IVF laboratory
- Experience with research and project management
- Leadership skills and proven people management ability
- Experience with Quality Management Systems
- Good understanding of HFEA CoP and EUTD
- IT literate with good knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite
- Proven organizational ability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility in working hours
