Patient Support

At the Agora, we understand the highs and lows of having fertility treatment. And we’re proud of our patient-centred approach.

Our extensive patient support program, which includes a counselling service, begins the moment you register. And we’ll be there for you at every stage of your parenting journey.

We also understand how devastating it can feel when fertility treatment isn’t successful. We’re there to listen whenever you need us. And, when you’re ready, we can help you to explore your options so that you can move forward in your own time.

“The Agora are the kindest, most awesome people and we couldn’t have chosen a better bunch of people to share this whole entire journey with.”

Why good patient support is so important

Fertility issues and modern parenting can be tricky subjects to discuss. Whether we like to admit it or not, there are still some perceived taboos in society surrounding these issues. It can be hard to know where to turn for advice and help.

At the Agora, we believe that every person who embarks on a parenting journey should be supported by a compassionate team they can trust. You can rely on us to be the support network you need. We’ll work hard to build a close and trusting relationship with you and your family .

Our Support Program uses the latest scientific research and technological advances combined with emotional, physical and educational support to see you through your parenting journey.

Our staff are sensitive to the different ethnic, religious, societal and cultural backgrounds which make each person unique. That’s why each program is individualised and designed to provide the support you feel will help the most. We have a wide range of patient-centred options to help you, and you can choose as few or as many as you want.

Each program includes access to our counselling service, online Fertility Consents and the Salve app.

Online Fertility Consents

Your parenting journey will inevitably involve filling out detailed, and sometimes complex, consent forms. That’s because all fertility treatments are highly regulated by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). To help you do this, we have an online consent portal. It means you can complete your consent forms from the comfort of your own home, or wherever you happen to be, using computers or mobile devices.

Once you’ve registered as a patient, you’ll have access to a series of short videos through the online portal. They’ll give you information about any treatments you may be considering and the legal consent forms associated with each of them. At each stage of your treatment program, our medical and nursing staff will add further informative videos so that you have an individualised library of relevant information. It’s designed to help you navigate through the sometimes difficult medical and legal decisions associated with different fertility treatments.

You can access the consent portal from your computer, tablet or smartphone – at home or while you’re on the go.

It’s a good idea to access the portal before or between clinic appointments. That way, you’ll have all the time you need to think about your options. You can watch the videos as many times as you want. And at each appointment, there’ll be an opportunity to ask questions or discuss any concerns.

Once you feel happy, you can electronically sign your consent forms using the latest EIDAS digital signature technology.

Our use of technology is evolving all the time to improve the patient experience. Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing many new features to our consent portal to provide all our patients with the best possible care.

The Salve app

We know that most of our patients have busy schedules and want a quick and convenient way of communicating with us when they’re having treatment. That’s why we’ve developed a patient support app to make life easier. You’ll find everything you need to know, including reminders of when you need to take your injections. And messaging us via the app is also the quickest and simplest way to ask us questions or tell us anything we need to know.

Our Patient Support Group

This meets once a month, usually on the first Tuesday, at the Agora. It’s led by one of our nursing team. The main focus is on listening and opening up a dialogue. Many patients find this is a great way to meet other people and discover they’re not alone on their journey to parenthood.

Our Buddy system

Our Buddy system allows you or you and your partner to be put in contact with someone else who is, or has been, on a similar fertility journey. We give you preference options to help you find the best match possible.

“My partner and I have just left the patient support group led by Laura and Michele. It was so lovely to sit and chat informally with other patients, to listen to their journeys and experiences. It made us feel like part of the Agora family.”
